Papa s 58 birthday

Here are some pics from Papas 58th birthday; I made this cake from acratch!!!! Now I am a box cake lady so a cake cake from scratch was quite a challenge. The frosting was even homemade. Everyone liked it but me. I liked the frosting but the cake was not flufy. Mom sad that it was because I was used to box cake I didn t know a good cake when it hit me in the butt. Dad liked the cake so I will make it for him every year. I bought 58 candles and put them all on. It wa too windy that day so I could not lite the candles but we sang anyway.
This recipe was an old family recipe so I am glad to bring it into the family. As I am getting older I am getting more sentimental with family traditions.
Sorry for the blurry pic I dont know what is wrong with my camera.

The Parade

We walked in the Lehigh Acres Parade Saturday morning. As fun as that might sound it really was not that much fun. The kids were so tired from the carnival the night before. Nick did not want to walk. But we went and fulfilled our commitment to Little League. Here are some pics of Nick and his teammates. Nick is wearing a Marlins shirt because his team was not really walking. We had a few players from the Diamondbacks but Maddie was the only Marlin. No biggie. It was an experience and I got to see my friend Jen (who is also the one who hold the crops once a month that I LOVE!!) She is starting a Mommy and Me class which is being held for the 1st time on the 18th. Maddie and I will go and Maddie will get to make her very own book. Since scrapping is such a love of mine so I am thrilled to share it with my little girl. It is something we can do together just her and I once a month. I am excited about that. Jen is a super sweet lady and I reallt enjoy her company. She is a bit more social than I am but we click anyway :) I included a couple pics of her and her daughter Mackenzie. She also has a newborn Landon. A newborn and she makes meals for sick friends. Nice nice lady!

Lehigh Acres Sprink Festival

We went to the Lehigh Spring Festival on Friday with our friends Michelle and Tim and their kids. We had so much fun. The kids went on a ton of rides. Maddie's favorite ride was the swing. The one that has individual seats and goes around really fast and high. When she said she wanted to go on I said no but her dad said yes she wants to. I was so afraid she would be scared to death and then would be stuck up there cryting and petrified. I made Pete strap her in each time she went. (I dont trust the carnies) She absolutely LOVED it. I couldnt believe it. I would have scared of that ride. (granted I am not much of a thrill seeker) I was so proud of her.
Nick had so much fun with Emma and Collin. He loved all the rides and was disappointed that he did not throw up! I have never known anyone to be disappointed that they didnt vomit! But even though he kept his dinner down he still had a great time :) He had so much fun on the rides he did not even bug us to play games. (we told all the kids that since they were getting a wrist band to ride unlimited rides we were not playing games)
I did not get the best pics but here is what I got.
The little girl in the pic is Emma. Emma and Maddie are in the car together and Nick and his friend Collin are in the car above them. In the pic where the kids were on stage Maddie ins on the left end with Emma next to her. Nick is in the red shirt and Collin next to him. (they had a kids entertainer and he called all the kids on the stage)
Little Miss Emma is such a sweetie. She was so super nice to Maddie. She held her hand went on all the rides with her. Watched out for her when they went in the fun house. She was such a little sweet girl. The Shannons are by far our favorite family to get together with :)
